Course Objectives: At the end of this course, students will be able to:

2. Discuss cultural customs and traditions.

1. Further vocabulary and discussion work on survival skills introduced in Beginning Conversation

2. Individual and group work on American customs and culture

Methods of Instruction: Lecture, small group work, individual instruction, role play, audio-visual equipment, audio and video tape of students for review
Required Assignments:
1. Mandatory attendance
2. Daily readings for homework
3. Unit tests – oral and written
4. Weekly attendance and completion of assignments in the Language Lab
5. Midterm and Final Exam – written and oral
Methods of Evaluation: Students must attend regularly, participate in class discussions, pass oral and written exams and pass the exit final.
Appropriate Texts and Supplies: Instructors assign texts from departmentally approved list of textbooks which ensures systematic articulation of ESL program's scope and sequence of skills and concepts. Other materials used include school pamphlets, newspapers, pictures, videos, job application and housing forms, etc.
